Living In Humidity While Being An Avid Men's Fashionista

Even With Flip-Flops, Lightweight Cotton Topman Shorts and a Loose-Fitting T-Shirt, I Was Genuinely Saturated In Sweat During This Photoshoot

One of the worst aspects about living in Florida was the sheer, unrelenting humidity. This was painfully exacerbated by the fact that I was an avid follower of European Men's Streetwear and Lifestyle clothing (à la any and everything posted by MenWith.co on Instagram).

If I wasn't wasting away hours avidly stalking Rowan Row or Johnny Edlind's Instagram for outfit inspirations, I would probably be stalking said Instagram Influencers through Pinterest!

Nonetheless, my world revolved around anything that had had skinny (distressed) Black Jeans, Loafers and a Slim-Fitted Dress Shirt. In hindsight, I saw this as an outlet of rebellion and nostalgia considering that everyone down in Sarasota, FL wore baggy cargo shorts/khakis, boat shoes, and large-fitting Polo Ralph Lauren shirts, as opposed to the more streamlined contours of those across the pond in Europe.

If there's one thing that Florida is exemplary at, it's staying humid and hot throughout 12 consecutive months. My most irksome memories revolved around the months before I got my first Canon Camera on Christmas, where I would literally mooch the life out of my best mates for a photoshoot in 30 Degree celsius (86 Degree Fahrenheit humidity) in the middle of a wooded swamp, while wearing black skinny ASOS jeans, a Black Streetstyle-brand XS shirt, and a pair of Adidas Rockstars/Stan Smith's, while making sure to wipe off the sweat that had accumulated on my forehead through every shot.

I tried so desperately to emulate the cold, urban highlights and chic style of Instagrammer's like Alex Costa, however, it was never meant to be due to Florida's erratic heat and incessant humidity. However, it was after rediscovering the likes of Sam Kolder and Sergio Carvajal where I was inspired to take advantage of the coastal locales of Florida and utilize a more Orange & Teal color scheme through Adobe™ Lightroom. In fact, the photo shown above is actually the last photo I ever took in Florida using my Canon, and a part of me wishes that I had gone to the beach more just to take said photos- It only took me 7 years of living there to realize this this summer.

I am now happily living in New York pursuing my dream of becoming a Creative Director and Fashion Model/Influencer at LIM College. Nevertheless, a part of me will always be looking forward to seeing the radiant bronze light wreathe across Siesta Key beach as the sunsets. Until then, I'll wait until the term ends for Christmas. After all, it is humid for 12 consecutive months.

To those living in a humid and hot climate, but are an avid follower of Streetstyle and Fashion photography/blogging, comment below on how you cope with such conditions.
